Dead watch after swimming Charge 5

I honestly do not know why I keep buying Fitbit watches. A few years ago, my supposed waterproof watch failed when water got inside. Now they have incorporated the lock screen— which has just proven to be useless. I stopped wearing any Fitbit to swim, afraid it would fail again. I decided to try and here we go! Immediate non-responsive screen after swimming for less than 10 min. Thé it went black and is now charging, and getting very hot on the charger. So it’s fried. Same thing that happened last time, have so see what the warranty is. Used to be a year, but now I saw something about 45 days.

Hi, thank you for sharing all these details about this issue with your Charge 5, @radzieus.

The 45 day period you mentioned is to return the device for a refund, the warranty continues to be valid for a 1 year period.

As you mentioned earlier, the device should be water-resistant up to 50 meters. In this case, I do recommend that you get in touch with the Customer Support team for further assistance with this. They will let you know how to proceed.

i am so mad at this Charge 5 Fitbit.  This is my 2nd one.  I said, “ok, I am going to go swimming, like I used to with my Charge 3.  Boom.  As soon as I was out this 2ND Fitbit died.  I am so mad!!!!!!  I’ve had it.  Going to get an Apple Watch after 10 years with Fitbit.

I am on my 2nd one too. I got my Charge 5 specifically because they said it was their best model for swimming. They said no one seems to be having an issue and no major problems have been reported with water usage but then they suggested maybe I should not wear it in the pool. Frustrated because that is why I got it! I have only have it 9 months and doing the 2nd return today.

I just got done with some snorkeling while wearing my Fitbit Charge 5, and it is also dead now.  I’m super pissed because I’ve had it for a little over a year, so have little hope that Fitbit will replace it, even though their claim that it’s water resistant to 50m now sounds bogus.

I had the same issue - Charge 5 stopped working after swimming for about 10 minutes. I chatted with support, and even though its a few weeks after warranty coverage ended, they are sending me a replacement.
