I have been using a Fitbit Inspire HR for the past 3 years and it has served me well. Due to the battery not having much charge in it, I decided to Upgrade to Charge 5. I like the features on it... however, I have noticed that after 6 months I will have to pay a monthly fee?? why??? The watches are expensive as i am a pensioner I do not want to pay the fee. Therefore, i have decided to purchase another cheaper make of watch......
It must be greed greed greed never mind its Fitbit's loss
I can only hope that other people stop buying fitbit products until this ripoff Monthly premium is withdrawn

Hello @Steveo22 ,
I’m glad to hear you like the Charge 5 but sad to hear that you’re so stressed!
You don’t have to pay a monthly fee after 6 months if you don’t want to. I don’t pay any extra fees at all.
if you choose to activate the free 6 month Premium subscription trial, if you like it and want to continue with it , you’ll need to pay when the free trial ends. You DON’T have to pay anything if you make sure you cancel your subscription within the trial period.
It says at least 24 hours before the end, but I would suggest canceling a couple of days before, just in case.
Please don’t worry about it anymore and enjoy your Charge 5 in peace.

Hi @Steveo22 Premium is given for six months free with your Charge 5. If you renew for the annual rate, it's cheaper than paying monthly for it. As for fees, I know people paying $17 a month for music streaming services, not to mention what they pay for all the various online services for video.

Welcome to the Fitbit Community forums, @Steveo22.
Thank you for your inquiry about the Premium subscription with Fitbit.
As it was mentioned earlier, keep in mind that Premium is not mandatory and you can still use the vast majority of the features available with your Fitbit device and the app if you cancel the subscription. This service was created to provide some extra insights and reports for users who workout regularly or that need more personalized information about their daily activity for any reason. You can check the extra features that come with a Fitbit Premium here.
Keep in mind that your Charge 5 comes with a free 6 month subscription and that's probably why you received this notification you mentioned, so you're aware of the time period you have before you need to cancel it. Feel free to let us know if you have any questions about it and we'll be happy to help you.
Have a great day.
