When I bought Charge 2, I naively took it for granted that it would have such a basic feature as a heart rate alarm. You know: Select a heart rate (threshold) that you want a notification for when you reach it. Simple as that. This is just so simple to implement, that I couldn't believe that it wasn't there in Charge 2. I have been waiting for a newer model or a firmware update to get this. It appears still not to be there with any Charge model, not even Charge 5, and I am still unable to comprehend why Fitbit still doesn't have as a standard, basic feature.
If I want a Fitbit tracker with this feature, it appears that I need a smartwatch type (Sense or Versa series) and even then, I need to get a third party app (HRPacing or AlertMe) in order to get this super simple feature.
Or - am I luckily wrong here?

Hello @LarsHP and welcome to the Help forum. The Charge 5 manual says it has the high and low heart rate alert. The image on page 43 and the description sound like it is the same feature that is on the Sense/Versa 3. I think the path to set is wrong in the manual. The Charge 5 manual says to tap on your profile picture, then your Charge 5 tile. Tap on your profile picture > scroll down to Activity & Wellness > Heart Settings > High & low heart rate. I wear a Versa 3 and this is the path I follow.
Keep in mind that this feature is programmed to alert you if your heart rate is beyond your setting for 10 minutes when you are at rest. It won't, for example, alert you for a high heart rate while exercising.

Take a look at the Fitbit help site for further assistance and information.

Right. I know of that feature. It's for people with certain heart problems. My Garmin Vivosmart 4 has this too, and it is useless for my purposes, exactly because the alarm only works when resting.

I’m with you on this issue Lars. I need real-time custom Max heart rate alerts to avoid triggering Post Exertional Malaise which was my 2020 Christmas gift from SARS-CoV-2.
The Help Chat people (Artificial Intelligence?) seem to be unaware that Charge 5 is incapable of doing that. I don’t want to buy a competitors product just to get this capability but it is medically necessary for me and anyone else in this community with Long COVID.
