Does Charge 5 have same issue as Charge 4?

My charge 4 just died, increasing loss of battery life until finally won’t sync and now black screen. I’ve been offered a voucher by Fitbit  to buy me a new one, but I’m worried that after a year the same will happen? Has anyone else experienced their charge 5 losing power, then screen, then dying?

Hi, @JanieBobs , I have had a Charge 5 since it first came out and I am not experiencing any of the issues you describe.  The Charge 4 is several years old so it sounds like it had a good long life for you.  As I am sure you are aware, all rechargeable batteries have a limited life and more than 2 years old is quite elderly in electronic terms.

If you decide to go for a new Fitbit, even if you find a Charge 5 available, I would recommend going for the new Charge 6 if your voucher covers that.  I think it is usually best to go for the latest, most up to date tracker.  I’ve been testing the Charge 6 for a few days and I am really enjoying it.

Hello @JanieBobs

There have been numerous Charge 5 users reporting issues with sudden loss of battery and non-responsive screen. I experienced this about 6 months after getting my Charge 5. Since my device was under warranty, I got a replacement that has worked just fine.

I agree with @Julia_G  to get the Charge 6 if your voucher covers it. Just be aware that if you tracked floors with your Charge 4, both the Charge 5 and 6 don't have this feature.
