This might be hard to believe. But is it true that Fitbit's fitness trackers do not offer movement alerts when the phone is not actively syncing? That would mean no movement alerts on flights or when you leave your phone on purpose out of range at work.
Every fitness tracker from other brands I had so far supported this. It seems to me to be a quite basic functionality. Why should the movement alert depend on the phone actively connecting to the tracker? Obviously this is another story for messages. But movement alerts?
Feels hard to believe such an oversight happened to such a famous company as Fitbit. So, I just wanted to check here.

@John4155 Both my husband and I get our reminders to move when our phones are out of range, powered off or in airplane mode. We both have experience with several Fitbit models. Neither of us is currently using a Charge 5, but the Reminders to Move apply to any model Fitbit on your account.

Interesting. I was told by the fitbit support that it wouldn't work. Maybe they don't have accurate information.

Welcome to the community forums, @John4155. @LZeeW Thanks for taking the time to help our member.
@John4155 Thanks for the detailed information and I agree with @LZeeW. While your Charge 5 needs to be connected to the Fitbit app in order to enable the reminders to move, those alerts should continue working even if your tracker isn't actively syncing. If that isn't the case, make sure the DND or Sleep Mode setting is turned off. You can find more information about this feature here.
I'm sorry for the confusion caused by our Support team and I appreciate your feedback. Please know we'll keep working to improve our services.
