Does the APP even work anymore when tracking walks??

For three months now, my app while walking isn’t tracking my movements via GPS or anything anymore. It used to alert me at every mile my time and average per mile. Now I don’t do anything different and basically nothing happens or it’ll tell me I’m at a mile, when I’m clearly at my third or 4th mile. The map GPS when you look at it will track your progress for a moment and then shoot across the map until the next time it picks it up. What changed back in January to cause this? I haven’t seen the map to work once since it’s the main reason I bought this charge five Fitbit. And now it seems pretty pointless. I mean it is tracking steps from what I can tell. It’s somewhat accurate, but who knows?

Hi, @Kevandtheboyzz , are you using your app to track walks?  This is really quite an old Fitbit feature and I am not sure that they have updated it in a while.  The best way to track a walk manually (rather than rely on the auto detect features of your Fitbit) is to use the exercise app on the Fitbit device, rather than the app.  To do this swipe left on your Charge 5 to find the exercise app and then choose walk.  You can check your settings for GPS in the exercise app and then start your walk.  Once you have completed your walk, stopped tracking, and synced your Fitbit, you should be able to see details of your activity in your app.

Does this help with your issue?

@Kevandtheboyzz   Do you use an Android or iPhone?  This feature is supposed to run in the background.  I've seen some posts from iPhone users who are getting results like yours.  I haven't used this feature in a long time, but it is the only way to get voice cues.

@Julia_G   I thought that Fitbit would never update this feature, but it did.  It added a Bike option, requested by many users.
