Several times this past week, the Charge 5 quits recording my heart rate. Most recently, I tried taking a ECG and then the heart rate feature started working again. Also, I my heart rate drops to below 50 and I am not notified like I have set it to do. Is this a common problem?

Welcome to the Fitbit Community forums, @MKBarton.
Thank you for sharing all these details about the problem you've been experiencing with your Charge 5.
If you haven't done so already, please follow the instructions in this article to improve the accuracy of heart rate information and check the information mentioned here about other factors that could affect your heart rate reading, this has been useful to other users who have experienced something similar.
In addition, I recommend that you try restarting the device using the three pulse restart method mentioned here below, instead of the restart option found on the Charge 5 itself:
If you're still not being notified about your low heart rate after the restart, please try turning this feature off and then turn it back on (Swipe down on the main screen > Settings > Heart rate zone notifications)
I'll be around.

Thank you for the info you shared. I tried it and my charge 5 started capturing my heart rate again.
