  • My ecg app on my Charge 5 is not working properly. I place my fingers on the side bars and it continues to blink blue and say hold side bars. I uninstalled and reinstalled thr ecg app. I do not know what to do. I forced stopped Fitbit app, uninstalled and reininstalled the Fitbit app. I restarted my charge 5 as well. Any help is appreciated. I use android.

Welcome to the Fitbit Community forums, @HDM2

I appreciate all the information that you've shared about this inconvenience with your Charge 5.

If you haven't done so already, please make sure that you've tried completing the three pulse restart method, instead of the restart option available on the device's settings:

  1. Connect your device to the charging cable. For instructions, see How do I charge my Fitbit device?
  2. Press the button located on the flat end of the charger 3 times (end of the USB cable), pausing for 1 second between presses. Then wait 10 seconds or until the Fitbit logo appears.

In addition, you can try setting up your Charge 5 as a new device in your accountLet me know if you continue to have the same problem afterwards.

I'll be around.

I did the three pulse restart method, saw fitbit logo. Went to ECG app and saw the number 30 for a quick moment, then the blue bars. When I hold the side bars, still seeing only the blue flashing.  Then I removed the Charge 5 from my account and then added agein. Still have the same result. Still not working. Any ideas?

Just one more note. I can do the EDA scan with no issues and it tracks my heart rate.

I had this issue with the EDA scan and not the ECG. When I have the issue, I wet my finger and thumb slightly and it hasn't failed to work since - yet.

Thanks for the advise. I tried wetting my finger and thumb slightly, but didn't work for me. Just blue bars blinking. Hope to figure out the problem eventually.

Still not working. Very frustrating. Charge 5 is less than 3 months old. Completed ECG readings with no problems until April 16, then I get this now.Still not working. Very frustrating. Well, I am assuming there is no answer to this problem. Very disappointing as this was my first Fitbit and I was optimistic and had elevated expectations that I would have many years of use with this Charge 5. Three months in and it is already not working properly.
