ECG heart rate

I tried to take an ECG recently and the result was invalid due to a heart rate greater than 120bpm, yet at the same time (within a few seconds) when I checked the regular heart rate app on the same Charge 5 it showed around mid to upper 60's for bpm.  This has happened several times.  Can anyone explain this?

All I can think to suggest is this - make sure your fingers are not cold when doing either … sit in a comfortable spot, relaxing for several minutes before checking your ECG and HR. You want to make sure you are comparing apples to apples, so to speak.
