I stopped relying on the automatic tracking as it didn't seem to always register, which is too bad since it's a nice feature when it works. Instead, I swipe right to left from the main screen and manually start & stop tracking my workouts.
Treadmill is one of the workouts that you can select to show up as an exercise shortcut. To do this:
- Tap on your profile picture from the Fitbit app on your phone to open the Account page and
- Tap on Charge 5 to open the device page
- Scroll down and tap on Exercise Shortcuts to open the page
- From this page, you can remove & add the exercises as well as rearrange the order to show on your device's shortcut screen.
- Swipe left to remove any exercise that you don't want on your device shortcut screen
- Tap on the + sign in the upper right to open the list of exercises and select the one(s) you want to add to your device screen. Tap on Add To Charge 5 when you finish your selection. You can have up to 6 exercises on the shortcut menu
- To reorder the list, use the 3 bars to the left of the exercise and drag them until you have your preferred order
When you're ready to do your workout:
- From the clock screen, swipe right to left twice to get to the Exercise menu.
- Scroll down to the exercise and tap on the icon. Tap Start.
- When you're finished, navigate back to the Exercise screen on your device if necessary, tap on Pause, then scroll down and tap on Finish.
- You might need to synch your device to your phone for your workout to show in the app.
It's a minor hassle to do these extra steps, but this way you know your workout is getting tracked.
