Dear FB Folks,

Firmware Update, Display Died and Now Battery Won't Charge!! My Charge is only 5 months old.  Has anyone else had this happen to their Charge 5.

Fitbit are saying they won't replace it!! I have been a Fitbit customer since the Fitbit Alta days of 2016.  I am not impressed!  I've had battery problems with Fitbit in the past,. so I am done with Fitbit.  I can't decide whether to go to Garmin or Apple.  Any advice much appreciated.

1. why won't they replace it?

2. It will be covered under the 1st year warranty if only 5 months old.

Hiya HL,

Mine has done the same thing!!!!  Was working fine then 5 minutes later it won’t connect to my phone and the screen will come on but then turns off. What the heck?

Fitbit are not acknowledging there is a problem with the Charge 5 and the update!!  I spent ages talking to customer service today.  They were useless!!

Same here, my charge 5 (1 yr old) was working fine until Sunday evening when the screen died and battery won’t charge anymore. Even a hard reset via the charging cable doesn’t do anything..

Greetings friend, I also finished with fitbit charge 5, rubbish.

Why do they ruin things that were working perfectly????

Human stupidity.

Let's do something useful and propose watches, I think I'll go for a Suunto 9.

Since customer service has no other answer than a discount on your next Fitbit

Yes, their customer service was no help. They looked at my charging history. Their advice was to charge fully and try again. I told them I had done that 5 times with the same result. Told me to reboot and try again. I told them I had done that. Couldn't help me any longer. They had to help another customer. Like you said 5 months old.

I'm so sad. Went to the beach today and suddenly the Fitbit stopped working. Connected to my charger and display would not turn on. After doing the reset via the charging cable it finally came on but only shows the time and heart rate. Doesn't switch to other screens.

I also noticed the Fitbit feels warm to the touch. I've had it for a year and it has worked perfectly until today. Could it be the firmware update?

I literally just finished posting the exact same thing and my Charge 5 is 5 months old as well.... only thing I didn't mention was the recent update (which sucked btw) and then the screen shutdown and then no charging, in that order.

They'd better replace mine as this is actually my 3rd Fitbit (others died outside of warranty so I just ended up buying replacements) but if Fitbit support doesn't replace mine then I will be switching teams for sure and cancelling my Premium subscription.

Same issue with my Charge 5.  Blank screen, won’t charge and I also tried all the resets with no change.  I’ve been trying to charge it since Monday.

If this doesn’t get fixed, I will never buy another Fitbit device and this is my 3rd model.

Amazon has cheap knockoffs for $30 - $40 bucks, looks like a better option than blowing another $150 or more on a Fitbit that won’t work.

Good luck! Fitbit refused to replace my faulty 5-month-old Charge 5. I hope Fitbit are listening to their unhappy customers.

I hear you!  After 7 years of Fitbit custom, and my Charge 5 breaking after 5 months, Fitbit not replacing it, despite it being in warranty.....I too am done with Fitbit.  They used to be great.  Not sure what happened.

Yes, same problem screen went off, connected to charger, battery was showing 40% but it then lost all charge and won’t stay on.
