Fitbit Charge 5 for Sleep Tracking Only

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I currently own an Apple Watch and am considering a second device to serve as my sleep tracker. I have already ruled out Oura and Whoop because of their subscriptions. A few questions about Fitbit Charge 5:

  1. Does the charge 5 track sleep automatically? Is it accurate, meaning does it correctly predict when you fall asleep and wake up?

  2. Can the sleep data collected by Charge 5 be synced to Apple Health?

  3. What type of sleep data is available without a Fitbit premium subscription? What data can you see? (Would appreciate a screenshot if anyone has one)

  4. Generally, do you think Charge 5 will be more comfortable to wear during sleep than an AW?

Thanks!

Hello @forcemani and welcome to the Community.  To answer your questions:

  1. All Fitbits with a heart rate monitor track sleep automatically.  Overall, Fitbit has a very good reputation for the quality of its sleep tracking.  Is it perfect?  No.  But I have been extremely satisfied with the sleep tracking performance.
  2. Apple is a competitor, so you need a third party app, like this one to sync your data.  I don't sync my Fitbit data with my Apple Health, so I can't say how well it works.
  3. I can't post a screenshot with the sleep data that all users get.  I have Premium and get more detailed analysis.  This article from the Fitbit Blog can give you some idea of the available data.  You get sleep score, hours slept, a graph of your hours slept compared to your desired sleep schedule, graphs of time spent in each sleep stage, and benchmark data comparing you to others in your age range.  You can also do an internet search and look for additional images.
  4. I've worn a Charge 5 sleeping.  I've worn both Fitbit trackers and smartwatches.  Trackers are slightly more comfortable.

One thing I will say.  If you want a Fitbit just for sleep, then the Charge 5 has ECG and stress management hardware that you might not want or is available on your AW.  Look at the Luxe or Inspire 3 instead.  The features are similar.  The Luxe has a metal frame, making it pricier than the Inspire 3.

I'm sure others will chime in.
