My Fitbit Charge 5 will not sync to my phone no matter what I do and when I am trying to change the number of steps on my Fitbit which is 8,998 to a higher number but it stays the same no matter what. I even turned off Bluetooth and back on, reinstalled the app, and readded the Fitbit to the account, but the number of steps stayed the same no matter what.

Have you restarted the Charge 5?  How about clearing the app cache?
