I did search the forum before contacting customer service. Since there are multiple posts where the metal rectangle on the back of a Charge 5 fell off for no good reason (I wore the FitBit the same way I've worn it since I bought it, same notch on the band, no immersion, etc.) I know this is a known issue. I asked the Support chat whether super glue would be a good option to reattach it. Predictably, they wanted to send me to warranty support. So instead I asked what adhesive FitBit used in the original construction--this is a fact within FitBit's actual knowledge (don't lie to me, I've worked in manufacturing contracts)--though it turns out they have failed to give this information to the Support team.
Support was unable to give me the information I need (i.e. how to glue the rectangle back on to the FitBit so it will not fall off again). I asked them to escalate my request, and I doubt I will get a reasposne.
Dear Reader, I am absolutely not going to buy another FitBit when the one I have should be working (but for the rectangle falling off). Yes, I know they will offer me a discount to buy a new one. That's not the point. This isn't my first FitBit, and it isn't the first product I've had that failed due to a known manufacturing defect. (Honestly if I had my way, my original FitBit--you know, the one that was a little "bit" on the wrist, not a faux watch--would still be functional.) I'm not interested in companies that plan for their non-recyclable products to get put into a landfill. If FitBit refuses to answer my question, I will dump FitBit and wear my running watch on the daily as I've had that longer that my Charge 5 and it not only still works, the functionality has expanded since I purchased it. (Coros is the brand in case you're in the market.)
But before I kill my app and all, has anyone here repaired their Charge 5 to reattach the metal rectangle on the back? If yes, what adhesive did you use? Please be specific.
Thank you, fellow consumers who believe in reduce-reuse-recycle (with "reduce" as the first step, and "repair" included there). I buy for longevity, and I'm sad FitBit isn't interested in making products that last. This Charge 5 would still work just fine, but for the randomly detaching metal rectangle.

Hi, @Barbzie & @Bain, If you lose a screen or backplate from your Fitbit there is no approved procedure to re-glue it. If your device still has the benefit of Fitbit's return and warranty policy then it will be replaced, the replacement device warranty does not extend the original warranty. Even if there was a workshop remedy (no other wearables do this) it would be impossible to guarantee the water-tight integrity of the repair.
If you "Google" the issue you might reach these posts - https://www.google.com/search?q=what+glue+do+you+use+to+repair+a+fitbit+watch&rlz=1C1CHBF_en-GBGB945...
I hope this helps.
Cheers

I have the same problem. The back metal fell off. At the moment, the sensors are also not working anymore. When connected to the charger, nothing works. It is not possible to rearrange. I wore the watch for a little over 1 year. I am very disappointed with Fitbit as this is the second watch that has broken and lasted just over a year. I will try to write to the support center, but reading this I don't think there will be any solution.
