Fitbit Charge 5 stopped working

I had a charge 4 that broke and I received a charge 5 as a replacement. It has worked great until yesterday when after going for a walk the screen has an illuminated rectangle on the screen. I contacted Fitbit and carried out a series of resets to no avail. I have read that a recent update has caused problems for a lot of people. Now being told it is out of warranty and can’t be replaced. Only had it for a year! I am so disappointed as it’s not my fault it has stopped working following an update. Anyone else had this issue? I was expecting a replacement as it’s not like I have done anything to cause this problem

Mine has a nlack screen. Nothing works.

I think they are designed to break shortly after a new model comes out. This has happened to me ever since I got my first Fitbit years ago.

Hello.

I had the same problem.  Working fine on May 8th 6:00 pm then attempted to charge device.  Black screen, nothing.  Can't reboot/reset.  Tried pushing flat button on charging cord.  Device vibrates one, FB logo appears for a few seconds, then black screen.  Not charging etc.  Tried to forget the device.  Cannot set up the device because I can't see the four digit code (black screen).  Device is 17 months old.  Not sure what I should try next.

Can't do that if you have a black screen.

I have had my charge 5 for 4 years and it finally stopped working yesterday. So I need a new fitbi I tried resetting it and the screen is just black even many times!!!

Mine screen stopped Yesterday too. I tried restart, changing clock. Didn't work. Also, power is draining fast. But I noticed through my app on my phone that it was still counting my steps.  I'm hoping that when power runs out it might restart when it gets charged.  Mine is 2 years old I think. If fitbit doesn't fix this I'll investigate other brands.

Good morning everyone! 

I wanted to give everyone an update I contacted Fitbit and their customer service department. I purchased my Fitbit in June of 2023 off of Amazon. Consequently because it’s not even a year old my Fitbit charge 5 is covered under warranty and they have agreed to send me a replacement free of charge. I got in contact with their customer service department through the online chat option which they tried to troubleshoot my problem with no solution. I’m still speaking with customer service on where to send my defective device. Once they’ve received it, they will be sending me a replacement device brand new. Hope this helps anyone who is having the same problem with their Charge 5s and hopefully gives you some answers or options about how to problem solve!

Many of us are JUST out of warranty - like BOTH of mine that died.  They are NOT admitting that they did something to cause all these failures.
