Fitbit app still shows Notifications service not running

I got my Charge 5 recently and now for some reason, I received "Notifications service not running in the app". This happens whenever I close the app on my Xiaomi redmi 6 and come back to make adjustments to my notifications for my Fitbit.

I tried:
1. To reset my Fitbit app on my phone via settings and clearing data and logging in (nothing happens)

2. Reset my phone to see if the problem was fixed as instructed to re-enable (did it 2 times and nothing was done)

3. Reset my Charge 5 via the settings in the tracker (nope not even there)

4. Uninstalled and reinstalled the app (still followed the same procedure of giving permission for locating, linking via Bluetooth, and enabling notification service for calls, texts, calendars, and emails)
5. Did a factory reset on my charge 5 (just to make sure... Nope)
6. I plugged the charging cable to charge it and pressed the black button 3 times with a 1-sec interval and waited 10 seconds after (all together everyone... nothing happened)

The current firmware version my charge 5 is on is 57.20001.149.11

My current android version is 9 PPR1.180610.011

Is there anyone that can help?

Hi, welcome to the Fitbit Community forums, @ProxyFury.

Thank you for all the details you've provided about the inconvenience you've been experiencing with your Charge 5 and the troubleshooting steps that you already tried.

I've been informed that you already contacted the Customer Support team for further assistance with this. In this case, they will let you know how to proceed.

In addition to the regular troubleshooting steps, I'd just like to add that some users have also found helpful the following:

  1. On your phone, open the Settings app > Apps and notifications > Apps.
  2. Tap Fitbit

     Battery.
  3. Turn off the Power-intensive prompt option.
  4. Tap Launch.
  5. Turn off the Manage automatically option, and turn on the Auto-launch, Secondary launch, and Run in background options.
  6. Tap OK.

Note that you may see a message on your phone related to power consumption and apps scanning in the background. If you follow the steps in this message, the Fitbit app can’t run in the background and certain features may not work properly. Repeat the steps above to enable the Fitbit app to run in the background.

Have a good day.
