My Charge 5 started to lose battery power very quickly following a full charge. I have followed the advice on various chats about this topic and even reset the device to factory settings. The device is under warranty so wondering how I can return it and get a free replacement.

Did your issue start shortly after you installed the latest firmware update on your Charge 5? From my experience and posts on this forum, the latest update apparently bricked the Charge 5 for many of us.
Contact Fitbit Support, preferably via chat. They may have you perform a few procedures to see if that will fix your device. If nothing works, then they should send you an offer to replace the device since it's still under warranty.
