General question- charge 5 charge and discount

I have had my Charge 5 for a little over a year. No issues until about 2 months ago when i added Heart rate monitoring. Battery draining to 18% in less than 10 minutes! Fitbits solution? no warranty, I get 35% off new device! Are you kidding me? I have read the forums, would I really want to PAY to try this again? No. 

Has anyone else gotten a replacement no charge or did you just take the discount and not have any other problems? Also back of fitbit, I may not be observant, very possible, but were all four of those rectangles colored? I have in order, black, red, clear, red. Just wondering why Fitbit has not been able to come up with a solution to this battery issue.
