Okay, so here is a strange one. My Charge 5 correctly identified my workout as being on the elliptical (I got a notification saying "Nice - That was 20 minutes on the Elliptical! Check out your stats.") When I did check out my stats, it said that it was a bike ride!?!
I read that the activity cannot be edited, so I deleted the activity and added the correct one and it is working now, but here is the thing. This seems like a bug. I took no action, so I don't *think* I messed it up. Has anyone else seen this behavior? I will try to recreate the issue tomorrow, when my workout plan has 30 minutes on the elliptical.

Hello @DavidOm and welcome to the Community. I agree that it's strange to get the correct notification about the exercise type, then the wrong exercise in the details. But you can change the name of an auto recognized activity. When you go to the exercise details, there is a Categorize Exercise option. You change it there. I think "editing" refers to changing the start and stop times.
Auto recognition (SmartTrack) analyzes the accelerometer data, looking for patterns. Sometimes it gets the pattern wrong. A while ago, a user folded laundry and it got recorded as a swim. It has limitations. If you don't ride a bike, you can turn the auto recognition off for it, or any other exercise. Tap on the Exercise tile, then the gear in the upper right. Choose Outdoor Bike and toggle it to off.
