Have Charge 4, is Charge 5 worth the upgrade?

Hello, my wife and I both have Charge 4 and there are certainly pluses and a couple minuses. Worst feature is that it does not accurately track distance for my wife. She uses a 4-wheel walker (same as pushing a stroller or shopping cart) and we always walk together. The trails we use have known distances and are accurately recorded on my watch. Hers, however, might register anywhere from 25-60% of the distance. Never accurate, though.

The other thing that happens is that the face seems to 'freeze' and can't switch to the different exercise modes (we only use walking and swimming). Not sure if it's going through an automatic  update or just what.

Anyway, I was just wondering if the upgrade to Charge 5 might help alleviate the distance issue.

All Fitbits measure distance via steps multiplied by stride, with stride occasionally adjusted via GPS (the reason of such complicated algorithm was never clarifed by Fitbit). And since steps are detected via wrist movement here you have the explanation why distance measured by your wife tracker is much lower.

So no, don't expect any improvement passing from C4 to C5

There appears to be many issues with the Charge 5.  When my display stopped working after only a short time, a few people I know shared that they had problems too.  They all received replacements.  I returned mine on 11/22 and I’m still waiting for the replacement.
i would stay with what you have.
