I swim most mornings and each time I do so my Charge 5 seems to have a gap in my heart beat rate while I am in the water. Tried tightening the strap a notch but it still happened. Anybody else having or had this?
Thanks!

Fitbit doen't track HR for swimming.

When you select the swim tracker option, it automatically turns on the waterlock. The waterlock shuts down sensors that dont work properly when in the water. The heart rate tracker is one of those that is disabled.

Hi, @SunsetRunner , as pointed out by others HR is disabled for swimming. You may like to experiment by leaving your "Charge 5" to auto-recognize your swim as I did this morning the large peak about 0630 is swimming for 80 minutes.
I hope this helps.
Cheers

Thanks for this. I was planning a bit of autorecognise as one time it did that when I ran somewhere briefly because I was a bit later and it counted as a jog. Nice!
I gave it a go with the Fitbit not on swim lock but it ended up with a bit of a double screen effect after 20 x 20m lengths. I got out and dried it off and that sorted it but I was a little worried for a while. Heh. After that I got back in on the swim mode and got the rest of my proper swim in. It was good to see the heart rate data for the short initial bit though.
I wonder, perhaps you meant putting the water lock on for an auto recognise?
Thanks again!

Thanks! Yes, I figured this was happening. Might not have got quite the right device for my specific exercise needs, but still very happy with it.

Hi @SunsetRunner , Yes, before getting into the water engage "water lock" on your device, then just leave auto recognize to record the swim. Remember the default settings in your phone app are set so you need to be swimming more than 15minutes to get a record. You can change the setting if 15 minutes is not satisfactory.
Cheers
