Yes, it can be hard to do it, but it’s supposed to be a bit difficult so you can’t turn it on and off accidentally. It has to be a deliberate effort to turn it on or off.
But, don’t let it put you off. With any new and strange physical thing, the best way to get it is to practice again and again until it’s second nature so you can do it under pressure with no problems.
I’ve just been trying different ways and found if I tap it with the tip of my finger where I can hear the nail tap too, seems so work best. Two very firm quick taps seems to do it.
The best thing is to practice at home when you’re watching TV or something, until you find a method that works most of the time for you. I’ve heard some people use their knuckle instead, so there’s more than one way.
Once you’re able to do it fairly easily, practice with a wet hand (just after you’ve washed them or in the shower).
Practice makes perfect. Then you should be able to do it easily at the pool. It’s a really useful function so you shouldn’t be afraid to use it.
