How do the active zone minutes on Charge 5 work?

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I have a Charge 5 and use Apple SE watch with Fitbit App.  I get a "notice" on my watch - orange chevrons - saying I am in the "active zone", which I understand.  I also get a "notice" in blue chevrons which disappears before I can read it.  What is this type of notice, and is there somewhere that I can retrieve this type of notice that pops up and is gone in a few seconds?

Hi there, @ml2624. Welcome to the Fitbit Community Forums. Thanks for the details provided in your post. I will be glad to help you to get a better understanding about your active zone minutes.

There are 2 ways your device notifies you about Active Zone Minutes:

  • Workouts: A few moments after you enter a different heart-rate zone while using the Exercise app

The number of times your device buzzes indicated which zone you're in:

Number of Buzzes Heart-Rate Zone
1 buzz Fat burn zone
2 buzzes Cardio zone
3 buzzes Peak zone

  • Everyday activity: 7 minutes after you enter a heart-rate zone throughout the day (for example, during a brisk walk)

Earn Active Zone Minutes for time spent in the moderate (fat burn), vigorous (cardio), or peak heart-rate zones. To help you maximize your time, you earn 2 Active Zone Minutes for each minute you’re in the vigorous or peak zones. Heart-rate zones are personalized based on your fitness level and age.

Heart-Rate Zone Active Zone Minutes

1 minute in the moderate zone 1 Active Zone Minute
1 minute in the vigorous or peak zone 2 Active Zone Minutes*

For more information about heart-rate zones, refer to How do I track heart rate with my Fitbit device?

Regarding your inquiry, there's no way to retrieve that notification unless you enter a zone again. Nevertheless, all active zone minutes you earn, will be reflected on the Fitbit app after you sync.

Thank you for that information, I know about this but not the number of
buzzes.

My main question is the blue chevron notice. I need reading glasses to see
fine print and I don't normally wear them while walking and gardening. It
seems there is a number under the chevrons - I think I saw 1200 and 1350 on
two occasions. There was something under the numbers which I could not
read before it disappeared,

I am in my mid 70s and have a heart condition - PVST and
chronotrophic incompetence. The Charge 5 and another EKG device are now
showing AFib. Even light "exercise" such as slow walking or washing dishes
can send my heartrate into the 90s and beyond. My zone minutes for last
week were 85, 27, 201, 326, 365, 285, and 231. I understand the orange
"earning active zone minutes" but I can't read and therefore don't know
what the blue chevron notices mean.

The question as stated in my first post was not my question.  I asked what the difference was between the orange chevron notice that "you are earning active zone minutes" and the blue chevron notice which I cannot put my reading glasses on fast enough to read before it disappears.  If Fitbit sends a notice, it should be available for more than 10 seconds.

I do not use the exercise app.  I have a heart problem and get 95 bpm standing at the sink and today riding in a car.  A leisurely walk often results in tachycardia.  I bought this watch to monitor my heart rate to be sure it does not go too high and for the ECG function to document arrhythmias.
