How to add walk exercise to Charge 5?

I just got my Charge 5 and I went to set the exercise I use most often, which is walk and there is no walk just run.  63 years old and not a runner but I do walk briskly every day for 2 -4 miles. Where is my walk?

Oh, that’s a shame.  It looks like you missed the advice posted by RTS2 earlier.

if you want the Charge 5 to recognize your Walk as a Walk rather than a Run, this is what you need to do:

Go into the app on your phone. Click on Charge 5, scroll down to exercise shortcuts.  Remove one that you won’t use (I suggest run in your case).  Then a list of replacement shortcuts is displayed.  On mine, the 5th one down is walk. Click on it to add.  Then it will show as an exercise shortcut on your Charge 5.

The next time you go for a walk, scroll till you get to Walk, hit start, and it should work for you.

I imagine it’s confused by the speed you’re moving when you’re ‘running’ and that’s adding to the problem.  You may well find it tracks more accurately when you set it to Walk.

 I hope that helps you.

Happy walking!

Under exercise shortcuts on the Fitbit app, if you delete one of the exercises, it gives you the option to add one and walk will be provided as an option

Have asked the same question, and yes, am almost 63. Re arrange your exercise shortcuts, follow the threads to do that.

In my case, all works good, except the stair climber. That one is useless.

Did my 2 mile walk today and it recorded it ok as far a steps and time,
even though it said RUN rather than WALK. The only problem was that it said
I walked/ran 2.92 miles when I know for a fact I did 2.06. SMH So far not
too impressed with this new tracker. I wish I had ordered another Charge 4.

I’m SO glad!  Now you have to test out the distance tomorrow to see how accurate it is…

Maybe you can mark this query as solved now to help other people in the same boat.

Enjoy!

I have an Android Fitbit. When I open the app it only goes to Fitbit premium and under that Today

There is nothing that says Charge 5. I think cuz I already set it up to charge five I did find a place where it showed activity time 10 minutes plus and he put ignored under Run but it still will not show up as walk.

Angela, I just followed Wibby's much appreciated instructions and had the same issue.

Tap on your profile picture at the top left and the next window will show your profile, premium subscription (0r not), and your device(s). Click on Charge 5 and scroll down to Exercise Shortcuts.

Good luck!

And, thanks again to Wibby.

Let me know if you were able to add Walking as an exercise shortcut. The Charge 5 or device image is available when you tap on your profile picture, to add a new shortcut, you can find all the instructions in this article

I've added walking as exercise in app setting on my phone, but it doesn't show on my device. What's up with that?! Any ideas? Thx

@KV83 The app needs to sync with device and then it'll update on the watch. You can pull down from the top of the Today screen in the app to force a sync if you need to.

@KV83 Thanks for sharing your inquiry.

Let me know if you're able to see the exercise in your device after you sync with your account. As  @Heather-S mentioned earlier, you need to sync your Charge 5 to save any changes made in the app.
