How to stop watch tracking steps while on stationary bike??

My partner has the charge 5. He uses a stationary bike at home while doing curls with low weights. His new watch is registering the movement as steps and he can't figure out how to get it to stop. It's on the spinning setting and he still wants to see his heart rate and stuff so he can't just take it off but his step count on these days is really inaccurate. Is there any way around this?

@porthos-thebeag Hello and welcome! Steps are counted via wrist movements. If he's lifting weights, the curling motion is probably being mistaken for "walking".  Unfortunately, there's not much you can do about it. All step trackers are designed to count steps by wrist movements. It doesn't know if he's lifting weights or walking, it just senses movement and assumes steps.

 

My only suggestion would be to stop curling weights while riding. However, plenty of people lift weights while wearing their fitness trackers so that they can track their heart rate and calories burned. There are times when you won't get credit for steps and times you'll get some extra credit because of wrist motion. I wouldn't worry about it being too accurate. The important thing is that he's working out and being healthy.
