I have been wearing various Fitbits for years and have had the ap for years. I just bought a new Charge 5 and am trying to set it up. It keep telling me to "download the ap" but I already have the ap and it doesn't recognize the new Charge 5. I have tried deleting the ap and reinstalling it, but the Charge 5 does not recognize the ap and keeps telling me to download it. I am stuck.

Hi betsbe,
I am new but as far as I am aware setup is mostly app driven and you don't touch the watch at all (it does continually give the 'download app' message - this is normal as even if you have the app installed on your phone, the watch can't know this as it is not connected to your Bluetooth yet).
Have you tapped your round icon in top left of phone screen then chosen '+ set up a device' about two thirds down the list? Once connected via Bluetooth this should prompt your new tracker to display a 4 digit code on it. This part is not a fast process as your new Charge 5 will probably need to update its firmware to the latest which enables ECG (if your country supports it).

So glad you are sorted. They are very helpful and patient in my experience and worth the price of the (excellent) tracker just for the backup.
