How to track mixed workouts with the Charge 5

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

How do you track a workout that doesn't conform to any of the categories the Charge 5 offers? I do workouts sometimes that mix cardio and weights. My Charge 5 won't auto-track them, and the other categories I can get on my app/Fitbit don't fit. I sometimes just set it to "weights" and it'll at least calculate my calorie burn. Anybody have any better ideas? I've tried the "interval workouts" setting, but it makes absolutely no sense to me.

Generic category is just Workout. In cases like yours, Workout is way to go.

Although the auto-track exercise feature is a nice one, for me it's better to manually start tracking my workout sessions, especially when doing one that combines cardio & weights. I configured the exercise shortcuts on my Charge 5 to have "Workout" as the first shortcut. After I finish my workout, I can edit the name of the workout in the app, if I want to.

How do I add "Workout" to my shortcuts? I can't seem to find it.

@katshea  You use the Fitbit app to organize the exercise shortcuts that show up on your Charge 5. Click on this link to get instructions on how to customize the exercise shortcuts: Customize Exercise on the Charge 5

The customization instructions are about halfway down the page.

Hi Katshea,

I have the same problem. I can't find a general workout option anywhere on my charge 5.

Did you have any luck?

Hi RiekoC,

I don't seem to have a "workout" option on my charge 5.

Any advice on how to get it?

It's not in the list of shortcuts to select in the Fitbit app.

Thanks

Hi & welcome @mthomas91

I think "Workout" was one of the 6 preloaded/default exercise shortcuts on the Charge 5. If not, try swiping left to remove one of the shortcuts, then tap on the + sign in the upper right to open up all the available shortcuts for the Charge 5.

When I removed all but Walk in my Fitbit app (Charge 5 requires to have at least 1 shortcut), I see "Workout" between "Interval Workout" and "Elliptical".

If you still don't see the "Workout" shortcut, please let us know. I believe some users who migrated from Fitbit to Google login have recently reported issues with the Exercise shortcuts. We'll report your issue to the Fitbit devs.

FYI - One of the features for new Charge 5 firmware, version 194.61, is having all the exercise shortcuts on your Charge 5.

Edited to correct swiping direction from "right" to "left"

Thanks for the reply.

I finally figured it out. You have to swipe left on the exercise list to remove them. It's very buggy and not very intuitive at all, especially when the list is full because it doesn't show any options at all. There could be a remove/delete and an add button? Would be some much easier...

Thanks for your help anyway.

Hi @mthomas91

I'm glad that you got it figured out despite that I had the wrong direction in my reply. You're correct that you need to swipe left to remove the shortcut. I edited my reply to correct the swipe direction for anyone else who needs the instructions.
