I agree that Sense is not worthy as the issue on HR sensor, GPS accuracy (mainly the step based distance calculation), floor bug makes it very much not fit for purpose.

Regarding Charge 5 I would actually wait for some reviews to see if the bugs affecting the Sense have been ported to the new product (I'm quite confident the GPS will have the same issue as all Fitbit devices)

Ok thanks buddy for the answer and I would consider it thanks 😊

Ok thanks and I can not wait for the charge 5 to come out look a great tracker already

It's also worth mentioning here that the Charge 5 doesn't have an altimeter. So if tracking floors or altitude gain is important to you, that might be something worth considering.

Personally I would also wait for some reviews from trusted reviewers before making a decision.

Thanks for the message mate

Also it is worthy to remind that at launch Charge 5 will lack some announced features (ECG, readiness score) that are "coming soon".

It is worthy to say that also Luxe was released (in May) with the SpO2 feature coming soon but it's September and it is still not available.

Ok cheers thanks 😊

For what it’s worth, I am switching from the Sense to the Charge 5. The Sense is really too big for me, although I like its features and have not had any problems with it (I preordered it a year ago when it was released.) I know the Charge 5 doesn’t count floors (the Sense does), but I don’t care about that particular feature, so it’s not an issue for me.

I just preordered the Charge 5 as well coming from a Sense. Though the Charge 5 doesn’t count stairs it’s a feature that I rarely use even though it was something I did enjoy seeing on my app or watch. I think I’ll be okay because the Charge 5 has everything I used on the Sense and need on a fitness tracker. I believe I can always upload my activity to Strava if I really need to know my elevation.

@Danissa.xo The problem is that elevation is going to be derived from GPS that is everything but accurate in regards of this specific aspect. This is why the running watches use a barometer to measure the atmosphere pression and therefore the elevation.

Did you still need the charger

If you elect to go with Sense, buy the protection plan. If you accidentally crack the screen you're just out of luck. Fitbit neither repairs nor replaces. You'll be paying full price for a new one. I love the sense but the screen is very delicate.

You are correct. I cracked the screen on my Sense the other day. I barely brushed my arm against the kitchen counter and it was cracked pretty badly, worse than yours. Having said that, I pre-ordered the Charge 5 a couple of weeks ago. Until it arrives I am using my old Versa 2 which makes for a very handy backup device!

I have an Ionic, but I just really like my Sense better. I'll use it until
the new Charge is out, or the Sense goes on sale. I'll buy the protection
plan next time.

I LOVE my Sense, but that's because it does EXACTLY what I need it to, given the nature of my job.

I just read a review comparing the two, it concluded that if you like the smartwatch features, you should get the Sense. If you're only interested in the fitness features, get the Charge 5.

At $299 vs $179 (per the article), it seems like a good rule of thumb. Article did say the Charge 5 has ECG and EDA capabilities.

I agree with one exception. I wish the charge had a microphone. I like the new Snore Report. I'll watch the Charge as time comes closer for release.

Best Answer

IS this confirmed that Charge 5 with Premium will NOT have snore reporting available with subscription?

My wife complains of my snoring and I would like to better understand how loud I am, how long I snore during the night and how other sleep metrics can advise me to reduce this unwanted habit.

I understand that Charge 5 device may not have microphone BUT iPhone or Android mobile device with active Fitbit app can listen.

Is Sense my only Fitbit device option?

The Versa 3 also has the Snore Report, in addition to the Sense. But I think Stevenc73 is correct about the Snore Report not being available on the Charge 5. If it doesn't have a microphone, it can't pick up the sounds.

This tech article about the Charge 5 mentions the lack of a microphone:
