Looking at buying the Charge 5 but read the ECG feature not available in Canada.  Is it working or not?

Hi there, @mygsds and @Tessfully.

Thanks for your research and thoughts about the Charge 5. I'm happy to let you know that the Fitbit ECG app has been released in select countries including Canada. To have this app available to install, please make sure to download the latest firmware version. Additionally, I'd recommend reviewing this help article which describes how to use and see your ECG reports. Hope you enjoy the experience with this feature.

I read "coming soon" ... but, what does that mean for Canadians? It does not specify country.

I did phone support today and he checked and said first its in the US then double checked and said it IS in Canada but hope one of the Fitbit gurus here can confirm that before I decide to buy one.

Hello,

May I ask if the ECG will be released to all countries?

Hi there, @mygsds@MelaiH Welcome to the Community.

@mygsds You're welcome! In case you have some spare time, I’d like to invite you to visit our Health & Wellness board where you can make new friends, find inspiring stories and start your own topics.

@MelaiH Thanks for joining this thread, as well as your interest in our Charge 5 features. Let me explain that because Fitbit wants to ensure the compliance with applicable laws and regulations related to our medical products, the ECG app is available in select countries. Please check this link to confirm if you live in a supported country. We'll keep working hard to bring it to all our users across the world.

Hi, where do I get the Fitbit ecg app? It is not available at my iPhone App Store?

Best Answer

I'm in Canada and have a brand new Charge 5, fully updated, but the ECG does NOT work.

I go to the app, tap "open", and it says go to my phone.... but nothing happens.  There is no way to proceed without "something" happening on my phone (presumably in the Fitbit app) but nothing happens.

@jillpurcell Welcome on board. @Ythannah It's good to see you here.

Thanks for joining this thread and for the details provided. @jillpurcell Before anything else, let me clarify that the ECG app can be installed directly from the Fitbit app. To do this, open the Fitbit app, tap your profile picture > Charge 5 > Gallery > Apps. Search for the app and tap Install.

Once this is done, I'd suggest you and @Ythannah to follow these steps:

  1. Go back to the Today screen of the Fitbit app.
  2. Tap Discover > Health Assessments & Reports.
  3. Then Heart Rhythm Assessment and follow the instructions.
  4. After you complete the introduction, you can take an ECG reading from your Charge 5.

Thanks
It didn’t work

When I open the app on my tracker there is just “ECG” on the screen. No
option to set up ‘preferences’ as the video indicates

Hi there, @jillpurcell.

You're welcome, thanks to you for getting back with more details about this situation. Just to confirm, did you complete the Heart Rhythm Assessment  on the Fitbit app? Are you wearing your Charge 5 snug on your wrist? If possible, take a picture of what is displayed on your tracker and attach it to your reply.

In the meantime, please give a try to the following:

  1. Force quit the Fitbit app and reboot your phone.
  2. Restart your tracker to refresh its performance.
  3. Open the Fitbit app and  pull down on the screen to force a manual sync.
  4. Tap Discover > Heart Rhythm Assessments and make sure it's completed.
  5. Take a new ECG reading on your Charge 5 one more time.
