If I don't purchase the premium service will this watch be worth it? Will I get any fitness service? What exactly will I get with a non premium watch? Also, can I purchase it and try it and if I don't like it return it?

It comes with 6 months free premium service. So you could get watch, try it with premium for free, then 7th month see what it's like without premium and decide from there.
I think having premium adds alot of data collection especially for stress management and sleep.
For just fitness data alone, you don't need to have premium in my opinion.

Hello @NeptuneAve,
@Ar67395 made some good points. I don’t have Premium and I can see a Sleep Score and sleep stages but can’t get detailed information about my heart rate during sleep or restlessness,
I can also see most of the Health Metrics but only for the past week (Premium shows your trends over 30 days).
The Daily Readiness Score is behind the paywall.
If you have Premium you will have access to exercise programs and other perks. In my case I already have a subscription for the classes I do so don’t need the extra.
I’m not 100% certain, but I don’t think you can buy a Fitbit, try it out and return it if you don’t like it. You might have to check the conditions on the site for your country.
It’s a good idea to try out the Premium to see if you like it while it’s free. You could wait a week or so before you sign up for it so you can test what it’s like without and be able to compare when you get Premium. You have a few weeks to sign up before the offer runs out so you don’t have to sign the first day you get it.
I would like the ECG App, which is not behind a paywall but not available in every country yet.
