Keeps Popping Off My Wrist Charge 5

Just bought the Charge 5, my first Fitbit.  Have an iWatch but I was stoked to get a band so I could wear regular watches again.  Anyway, this thing will not stay on my wrist!  I just worked out and it popped off 5 times during my workout.  In addition it popped off a few times when I was doing yard work today.  This is super disappointing.  Anyone have any ideas on what’s going on?  I have a big wrist and have the large strap attached.

thanks in advance

I have a Charge 4 that they already replaced because the entire catch fell off.  It's just a couple of months later and it clicks in but detaches randomly.  I'm using clear mailing tape right now just to keep it on but I'm trying to find out if there's a better model that doesn't come apart.  This is a design flaw as far as I'm concerned.

I lost my Fitbit last week due to the strap and you refuse to replace it, I only had it four weeks, this is a disgrace

Don't know about replacing the latch mechanism but my pop off problem has been solved for now. Followed my wife's suggestion and let her Superglue the band to the watch. She gently sanded the peripheral areas where the band and watch connect then sprayed the metal band end with a Kicker and applied Superglue to the plastic connecting end of the Fitbit. The bond is tight, no wiggle. Just won't have the luxury of changing bands. I have an aftermarket stainless steel band attached. Don't know how Superglue will react between a silicone band and the plastic end of the watch.

I got mine in November 2021 after my Charge 2 that I had for 4+ years finally died. The band kept falling off inside my shirt sleeve or whenever I was doing anything at all. A couple weeks ago it fell off and I couldn’t find it anywhere. I even went through the trash outside with no luck. Then when I got the progress report via email I saw that a small number of steps had been taken on the night I took my recycling out and then again the day it was picked up. I am so mad that I didn’t dig through our recycling bin too, but I really didn’t think it would be there! Now it is gone and I’m trying to figure out what to replace it with since I’m afraid if I get a Versa or Sense I will run into the same thing! I’m so disappointed in the new band!

So far I have bought 4 different metal bands as original silicone strap reacts with my skin and all of them will not stay on fitbit device long enough to even fasten on wrist. Bought Charge 5 as had 3 Charge 3's all to have the screen go wished I had bought Garmin now.

I will never buy a Fitbit again.
Fitbit came up with a excuse why they cannot replace the one I lost due to their design of strap

The new Fitbit Charge 5 band reacted with my skin too! I got little red
bumps on my wrist. I had a Charge 2 for 4 years, the screen finally failed
last fall, it had been cracked for a long time but still kept working. I'm
so disappointed in Fitbit for not addressing this issue. So much so that I
have purchased an AppleWatch SE instead. I considered getting the Versa,
but read too many comments from people having the same band issue. Not
willing to lose another one.

Update to SuperGlue solution. Two weeks now and watch has not fallen off or loosened. Carefully SuperGlue the connecting portions and your band will stay in place albeit permanently. So far this is the only fix. I attached a stainless steel band and it has bonded nicely to the watch. You must be careful to not over apply the glue as it can get on your screen and possibly do some damage. Not the best solution but the only practical one as you won't get any help from anywhere else so far.

I tried the Apple Watch because I had so many problems with the Charge3 that I wasn’t prepared to try another FTBT. I found the Apple Watch’s activity app seriously lacking, so I bought a Charge5 2 weeks ago, and it’s started falling off constantly. I guess I need to return this Charge5 and try the Garmin. I’m so disappointed. The Charge2 was awesome. I miss having a reliable tracker.

Oh my goodness, my son was changing his sheets today and found my Fitbit inside his bed frame (it’s a loft style). It must have come off while I was putting his sheets on 2 weeks ago (I know supposed to change them every week…) I am glad it has been found rather than being in the recycling bin, but my Apple Watch arrived yesterday too and the way the bands slide in and click is way better than the Fitbit. I double checked and even tried reversing the bands and it is the bottom side (the side that is supposed to be no buckle) and it snaps in but then if you bend the band a certain way it pops right out again. I am going to try to clean it out to see if that helps, but my guess is it is a faulty mechanism on that latch. Fitbit should be recalling these or providing some sort of fix. I’d like to sell it but would feel guilty passing it along to someone else knowing it falls off easily! Bummed.

I have just dug out my old Charge 2. I have been so disappointed in Charge 5 that I am going back to the old one while I look at the competition and see if other companies have something that does the same thing but also actually care about their customers. Not holding my breath on that last bit though...

Thank you for the Tips to fix the bracelet problem. I’ve tried your suggestions, and my bracelet still falls off. Unfortunately, I developed a rash from the FTBT bracelet after 2 days, so I can only wear an after market band. I’ve switched positions of the band, and it continues to come off. The band stayed in place for 10 days or so without any problem. Now the slightest twist of my wrist can disconnect the band. I don’t see any solution for fixing this problem.

Ok, so I was able to get the original infinity band to stay put with a blob of hot glue. I immediately pressed the band in and it was good to go. I thought this waOk, so I was able to get the original infinity band to stay put with a blob of hot glue. I immediately pressed the band in and it was good to go. I thought this was going to be the solution for the new Fitbit brand hook-and-loop band I ordered. To my surprise the new band snaps in without any issues and DOES NOT COME OFF!! I don't know what the difference is on the new band but without any hot glue, it is holding fast. If I find out otherwise I'll let you know. Has anyone else had success with a new band?

So, it's been about 5 weeks since I received a replacement device from Fitbit.  Just the device - kept the original bands. To date, it hasn't popped off a single time.  Not sure if that will change over time, but wanted to share.  (Reminder, FWIW: Bought mine directly from Fitbit.)  Good luck, everyone!

Same problem. Had them exchange it. New one does the same thing. Feel like I am stuck with a defective product which really frustrates me be cause I tend to get the new ones as they come out. Now I'm leary of this until I see what problems they might have.

I have the same problem too.  Wish I knew before I even did the transfer from my old charge 3.  The screen is no longer working on my old charge 3 so I cannot even pair it again to my phone since I won't even be able to see the PIN during the pairing process.

Now I have charge 3 that cannot pair, and a charge that won't stay on my wrist.

It's definitely the main device that's having a fitting issue.  All bands would click in and feel snug on the top side of my device. For the bottom side, it doesn't matter what band it is, it would make the click but it wobbles a lot. I can just pull it off without using much force.  And if my wobble it a bit, when it's at the right angle, it would just pop off without and pulling.

Anyone know if I can ask for an exchange directly from fitbit if I bought it from Amazon? I live in Korea and purchased it from amazon US since it was $40 off.  Not sure if I can even refund it back to Amazon since I am overseas......
