I swim almost ever day. Is there any reason why I shouldn’t just leave on the water lock function?

Welcome to the Fitbit Community forums, @Bekbo.
Thank you for your inquiry about the Charge 5.
This feature is usually activated to prevent your screen from activating when you're in water. There is no problem if you leave this feature on throughout the day and I've seen other people do this, but some users don't like to do that because it makes it a little harder to activate the screen or unlock it. Keep in mind that notifications and alarms still appear on your tracker, but you must unlock your screen to interact with them and it takes more force to activate the screen than usual.
Have a great day.
