Lost charge and data

I charged my Fitbit Charge 5 yesterday, and noticed that after midnight it kept counting as if the day had not ended. I tried to sync it, thinking this would solve the issue, but it would not sync. The next morning, it was still acting as if August 5 had not ended though it was August 6. I restarted my phone, had my bluetooth forget my Charge and then paired it with my bluetooth again, still no luck syncing. My fitbit died later that evening, losing the full charge over less than 48 hours. I reconnected my fitbit to its charger, restarted it, and it is now recharged, but I lost all the data since midnight August 6. It now syncs with the app again but rapidly loses charge as soon as I take it off the charger. This fitbit is only a few months old. Should I return it while it is still under warranty?

It sounds like you've tried all the recommended troubleshooting steps without success. The next step would be to contact Fitbit support while your device is still under warranty. Click here for links to contact them via chat, phone, or direct message: Fitbit support 

Please be aware that when Fitbit support confirms that you're eligible for a replacement, the Charge 5 is currently on backorder, based on recent user posts.
