Metallic ring around the sensor array

Hi, the metallic ring around the sensor array (and the rubber gasket underneath) on my Charge 5 came loose and fell of during some mild cleaning. I was able to reattach it, but it is still loose and the battery has been draining a lot faster (approximately 20% per hour) ever since.

 

Does anyone know the purpose of the metallic ring and have any ideas or suggestions as to why it seems to be impacting the battery life?

Hi, I tried that, but did not get very far as the Charge 5 is out of warranty... So as a last resort I was hoping that maybe someone knew what might be causing the issue since it coincided with the metallic ring coming loose.
