It has always been a bit temperamental about getting exactly connected properly to the charger but now it won't connect at all. Is it the charger or the Charge 5.

Thank you for the information provided regarding the issue you're experiencing with the Charge 5.
Before considering other options, if this is related to the battery, please make sure that you've followed the steps provided in this article.
If the device is charging, but the screen is completely black, make sure that you've also completed the restart procedure with the charging cable as described here.

I’m having a very similar issue. I’ve tried everything Fitbit has said to do but it seems like the connectors just don’t want connect. I’m about at my wits end and seriously considering going with a different brand of tracker. I’m actually charging up my old charge 3 simply out of frustration
