My GPS connects about 1 in 5 times when I run.  I’ve re-started several times, I’ve factory re-booted.  Clear skies, etc doesn’t seem to make a difference.  My charge 4 GPS was much more reliable.  Extremely frustrated and looking into other trackers.  Btw, I think it was a bad decision to get rid of the floors tracker.as I run a lot of hills and found tgst info helpful.  Any suggestions?

Hi, welcome back to the Community forums, @WollyBoy

I appreciate all the information that you've shared about the difficulty you're experiencing with your Charge 5 and the troubleshooting steps that you already tried.

In addition to checking that you are in open sky and moderate trees, please try adjusting how you wear the tracker when you want to use GPS  sure the Location in your phone settings is set to Always or All the time for the Fitbit app (if you're using connected GPS). make sure to follow the steps suggested in this article as well.

If you continue to experience the same behavior and your GPS is getting disconnected, make sure the restart procedure you mentioned earlier is the one using the charging cable, instead of the restart available on the device's settings:

  1. Connect your device to the charging cable. For instructions, see How do I charge my Fitbit device?
  2. Press the button located on the flat end of the charger 3 times within 8 seconds, holding each press for about 1 second.
  3. Wait 10 seconds or until the Fitbit logo appears.
  4. If the device doesn’t restart, wait 15 seconds to try again.

I'll be around.

Thanks for the suggestions. I have tried all your recommendations (several
times). The issue is not that the GPS is disconnecting, its that it seldom
connects.
