That’s because, unfortunately, it tracks arm movement. I work in a library and often I’m standing in a 4 foot section moving books. My feet don’t move but my arms are in constant movement. On those days my “step count” is through the roof (I’m talking 15,000 and more) yet I probably walked no more than 4,000 steps.
the fitbits are so inaccurate at counting steps. I’ve started putting it in my pocket and the step count is much more accurate. I don’t care about heart rate so the pocket thing works for me.
