I'm not sure if I understand your issue. Are you noticing that your Charge 5 screen goes dark after a time? If so, that's normal behavior. The display lights up for a short amount of time, then goes dark. This is usually set as the default to help the battery last longer.

You can change the Screen time out length from the Settings menu on your Charge 5:

• Swipe down from the clock face until you see the Settings tile (last one) and tap on it
• Tap on Display
• Swipe up to Screen Time Out
• Tap to select your preferred time out: Default, Medium, Long. Unfortunately, these settings don't tell you how long the display will show before the screen goes dark.
• You can also turn on Always-on Display, just below Screen Time Out. This will keep your display on all the time and will result in shorter battery life.
