New Charge 5 is stuck on the Fitbit logo

Hi, 

I bought a new charge 5 in the week but have been unable to get it to turn on, i believe i have to tap the screen twice???.

If i plug it in to the charger it says it 100% charged, then when i swipe left the display briefly shows quickly followed by the fitbit logo then a screen saying download the fitbit app.

Hello there, @Gooner1959. Welcome to the Fitbit Community Forums. I'm sorry to hear that your new Charge 5 is stuck on the Fitbit logo. I'll be glad to help you with this. 

The message you're receiving on the screen means that your Charge 5 is asking you to pair it with the Fitbit app. If you haven't done so yet, please see How do I set up my Fitbit device?

Thanks for the reply, but surely i should be able to use the charge 5 as a watch & on its own without pairing it?, my i phone doesnt recognise it to be able to pair it, i assumed this may be because i already have a charge 3 paired to my phone or because the charge 5 wont turn on?
