No sleep data on the Charge 5

I've had a Charge 5 for 2 weeks, replacing a Flex 2 which still works but I wanted visible data without constant synching. The Charge 5 works as expected except the sleep data on the wrist never shows data and today the days per week of exercise icon has disappeared. Hard resetting of Charge 5 doesn't help. The data show up fine on the app and dashboard which is what really counts so I'm not upset about this, I chiefly need movement reminders and counts of different data. This is an indication, however, that the Charge 5 isn't as robust as it is expected to be. But then there is the question, at this price point and with this level of complexity how robust can it be made to be, given how cheaply and carelessly things are manufactured these days. I've gone whole hog and ordered a more comfortable band.

EDIT: Just for fun I changed back to the orginal clock face and redid all the resets and restarts. Still the same so I went back to the clock face I was using which is easiest for me to read. The new band came today and is very comfortable.

Hi, two nights in a row my charge 5 doesn’t collect any data of my sleep. I can’t view my sleeping score, breakdown of my sleep, spo2, skin temp etc.

Can this be caused by the new IOS 15.2 update?

Best Answer

I’m having the same issue! Fitbit version up to date. Havent done iOS update. Hopefully it will get resolved or someone will come up with a solution on how to fix, also having issues with hourly movement on charge 5 and fitbit app being different.

Same here. Never had this issue with the previous models. Have changed wrist placement, synced, stuck my tongue out, nothing works. Very frustrating.

I just got my charge 5 for the health values.  I did collect the data of my sleep after the required nights for a full week, but now?  Maybe if I am lucky 2 days.  I wear it every night and it's up to date, I have premium.   I don't know what the problem is but so tired of  "Please wear your device"  which it's constantly on! Grrr

Hi, @SunsetRunner, @Muspirit2@Jcop713, and @AllisonMa welcome to the community. You may find these articles helpful How do I track my sleep with my Fitbit device? and How do I track blood oxygen saturation (SpO2) with my Fitbit device? If your device is not syncing regularly this may be the cause of the issues you see. How do Fitbit devices sync their data? and Why won't my Fitbit device sync? give advice and guidance on syncing. In addition, I suggest you check out your Fitbit app settings on your phone. Make sure all the permissions are allowed and any battery-saving function is disabled for the Fitbit app.

I hope this helps.

My charge 5 starting syncing just fine and still does.  I get how long I have slept etc but it's not giving me that sleeping log that tells me how my REM sleep etc.  It did it after the required amount of days asleep but now it's random.  Two days this week out of 7 it worked.

Hi, @Muspirit2, I find there is a delay in the morning when I look at my data. I usually sync manually when I get up in the morning at which time a number of data points are blank. After 10 minutes or say I sync again and the gaps are filled and there is usually an encouraging message at the top of the today screen. Have you reviewed your HR setting on your Charge 5? you may have inadvertently turned off your HR toggle switch in settings (a giveaway is the absence of a flashing LED on the back of the device).

Let me know how you get on.

Cheers

Try entering the data manually my experence is that it recorded fine but their seems to be some kind of issue transferring the data once you enter the log it should breakdown the usual way.

Hi,

Have been entering sleep data manually, by doing it this way I don’t get sleep score or other data.
Thanks.

The issue is the charge 5 is basically a **ahem**. The heartbeat monitor keeps turning off/not working whatever. Fitbit refuses to even acknowledge the problem much less address it. You have to keep resetting the darn thing again and again and it will finally start the heartbeat monitor, but you have to watch it constantly because it will happen again! It is so frustrating! When this one finally bits the dust i an going to try a different brand. Fitbit just has no quality!

I had done manual sleep input to see if it would break it down but it didn’t. I dis-installed /reinstalled the app and also rebooted the phone but it made no difference. The battery on the Charge was at 50% so there was enough power to input.
12-15 hours later my phone battery got recharged and slowly the app started working the features it hadn’t been inputting. One by one in an hour all features worked again. It’s been 3 days and it seems to be fine.
I did lose data for the time it wasn’t responding to the 250 steps an hour, sleep, and heart rate but it keep recording my steps for the day and I didn’t lose any when the app got crazy! That was a good thing.

What do you mean by HR toggle switch?

Hi, @Muspirit2 see page 20 in the manual Go to settings on your Charge 5 swipe up to the HR. There's an off/on toggle switch there.

Cheers

Thanks!  I also contacted "help"and  explained the situation.  They had me shut off HR under settings for 30 seconds, then turn it back on.  He also said to not turn on "begin sleep now".   I have turned that on since my last fitbit.  It felt strange not turning it on but last night, a score of 82 , deep and REM 22-25 and Restoration 20-25.  So Whoo oo it worked!  So hope this continues. Thanks for the help!

We might be able to address your issues if you could spell them out clearly instead of a general conclusion that it not as robust and carelessly manufactured.  Perhaps some of your issues are easily fixed.

No sleep data on wrist and loss of days per week icon should be specific enough. Also the resetting routine was done for both wrist and app. Also everything shows up on the dashboard. That's specific.

So it's just those 2 issues.  Apparently I misread that there seemed to be several problems.

Days of exercise - don't know if you are talking about on phone app or on wrist;  if phone app, tap 'Edit' button near top, then scroll down to 'Additional Stats'.

Sleep data - does it show up on phone app (not sure if by "dashboard", you mean phone app or fitbit.com dashboard), so you are getting the data, but just not seeing it on wrist?

"Days per week icon" is on the wrist of course. Disappeared today after not functioning for a couple of days. No sleep data on wrist. Everything is being logged on the dashboard (which by definition is the website). So I'm good to go because I don't really need sleep data or days exercised data on the wrist and was sort of hoping I could remove those things anyway as they are unnecessary to see all the time on the wrist.
