Notifications are not working properly on Charge 5

I've tried absolutely everything mentioned and I've read lots. I've updated the app, turned off/on bluetooth to everything, double/triple checked all settings on phone and fitbit app, removed the app from my phone & reinstalled but still don't get notifications of text & calls. I used to get them no problem, didn't change anything but it just stopped working. It's the only reason I wear this device. Is there possibly any other suggestions or is the device now scrap?

Hi there, @Freddie58. Welcome to the Fitbit Community Forums. Thanks for trying to troubleshoot the issue with your Charge 5 before reaching out. I understand how you must be feeling.

As a first approach, I'd recommend checking if your Charge 5 is in sleep mode. When sleep mode is on:

  • Notifications, goal celebrations, and reminders are muted.
  • The screen's brightness is set to dim.
  • The screen stays dark when you turn your wrist. To wake your tracker, firmly tap the screen twice.
  • The sleep mode icon illuminates in quick settings.

If the above doesn't describe your issue, please verify you tried the steps below in the order listed:

  • Unpair your Charge 5 from your old phone's Bluetooth and also from the new phone.
  • Unpair other Bluetooth devices that you may also have paired to your phone's Bluetooth settings.
  • Force quit the Fitbit app.
  • Turn off other Bluetooth connections when not in use. This can help to prevent connectivity issues or Bluetooth interference.
  • Shut off your phone and turn it on after 1-2 minutes.
  • Turn on the Bluetooth on your new phone.
  • Plug it into the charging cable and open the Fitbit app.
  • Set up your Charge 5 again.
  • Set up notifications on your Charge 5 again.

With the steps above, what I want you to do is to pair your Charge 5 first to your phone's Bluetooth settings before any other Bluetooth device is connected to your phone.

This is not a new phone I’m using as you’ve stated. Text messages just stopped going to my Charge 5 device (no changes were made to either device (phone or Fitbit). I’ve tried all suggestions you’ve mentioned but text & phone notifications are still not coming through.

"Unpair other Bluetooth devices that you may also have paired to your phone's Bluetooth settings." Are you mad? Why don't you suggest he get a new phone and a new Fitbit.  Move no settings or data to the new phone.  Open a new Fitbit account.  Then simply start your life over again.  Perhaps removing all electronic devices for a 5mi/8km radius would help as well, your neighbors won't mind.

I know you opened a can and found this reply.  Don't go back to that shelf of can goods again.  I think those cans have gone bad.
