For me when the plate came off - the charging became an issue. I began loosing charge to the charge-5. I had to charge it every 4-6 hours.

But when i put this oblong plate back on the back of hte device - the charging issue went away.

However i have lot is again - not sure where it fell off. It is a simple fix to get the oblong plate and put it on the back... Had a chat with the customer Rep and they said they do not do a repair on the device and was upselling a new one.

Both mine and my wife's Charge 5 have moisture issues. I noticed on hers that the silver plastic piece (the cover for the sensor LEDs) moves slightly when pressed. It looks like it is separating from the case.

Nothing but problems with these new models. Can't even get a watch rated waterproof to 50 meters wet. This is ridiculous.

First the band pops off and now this. This model is garbage.

Did your screen still work with that plate off?

Are you able to post pics of it with the plate off?

Having the same issues. Really disappointed. My Charge 5 apparently is not waterproof at any depth and the back plate is coming off too. It lasted only 6 months. Well past the 90 day warranty but only 2 weeks past the store return policy. Really peved to have spent so much on something that failed so quickly. Before when I got a Charge 4 was super uncomfortable and the original band didn’t even fit the device properly, so I switched to a Charge 3 and use that for about a year and then the screen started malfunctioning. These products are too expensive to die this quickly. Looking for a new fitness tracker now. So done with Fitbit. I love the devices when they work, but they malfunction and don’t last. Nor are they waterproof or swim friendly.

Totally agree! No more Fitbits for me! I have a Charge 4 that the band kept coming off so I super glued it on & that’s what I’m using right now! Works good for steps & sometimes for sleep!
