One account, 2 users with Charge 5

I am considering a Charge 5.  Can it be used for 1 week by me, then 1 week by wife?  We walk together, so now sense in 2 devices.  Mainly want to track my sleep for a week, then her sleep for weeks.  I assume both can be synced (under one name).  It shouldn't know who is wearing it, right?

Two ways - one is to keep it with both of you sharing the account and it is less work. All you'd need to do is swap wrists and nothing more.

Other way to make sure your results reflect your age, gender, height and weight is to swap the person using it. You'd use it, then when your time is up, you'd log out and let the wife sign in and set up. After her time is over, she'd log out and you'd have to set up as a new device on your existing account.

You can see it would be easier to share the account, but it wouldn't be as accurate in the log run for keeping track of your sleep and stats.

Hi @tcat007  you could do that or you could each have your own account and swap that way. Base metabolism rate (BMR) varies for gender, age and weight, so you'd probably want to have two accounts rather than have your stats be off.

So the same Fitbit can be registered to 2 accounts?  I'd be getting 6 months free premium if I bought at Costco, I'd sign her up on a free account.  Do I have to unregister my account, then she registers on hers (each week)?  Once we track sleep, I'd probably be the main user after that.  But I'm not sure if having a 1 week "glitch" on my account would be a big deal.  Our "exercise" consists of a 1/2 mile walk 2 or 3 times a week.

Thanks.  Since I only want to track her sleep for a week or two, the 1st option makes sense.  Really crazy this is not a profile option in the watch!  Blood pressure monitors, Netflix accounts, computers, phones, all let you do that easily.  A simple software update would fix that.  They would increase sales 25% if they did this.  It's the ONLY reason I'm considering lower cost options.

So if we both have accounts, and one device is removed from one then added to the other, is all data kept on each email account?  So when I add it back to mine, it picks up where I left off?  Guess I'll find out, just ordered one from Costco.

@tcat007 yes, if you use it, then pass it to your wife, when you get it back, it continues your journey. It will show gaps, but it's a way to share the one device using two accounts. Actually, the time you're not using the device, you could each use Mobile Track. click for information

Thanks. Just installed app. Set up with 2 gmail accounts (log out and create second).  Waiting for Charge 5 to arrive!

Curious about what premium plan is tied to.  The device or the account?  If I get free premium for 6 months, and I switch from account to account, removing and adding same device, does free premium travel with it?

@tcat007 Premium is tied to the account, not a specific device.

So if I log into my account and activate free trial of premium, then remove device, then add it to my wife's email, she'll just have basic. But then when I remove device from her account and add it back to mine, it will remember I have premium?  Or do I need to upgrade to premium again since it's a "new" device?

@tcat007 if I'm right, the premium stays with you, but to be sure, I've asked a Fitbit Moderator to stop by to address this. It would seem if you use premium, it would run out faster since you can't start and stop it.

I sure hope it stays on the account!  Since there's no way to set up a 2nd user profile.  They can't charge you for premium, then if you get a new device, not let that service carry forward (whether the new device be the same one or an upgrade).  Just very poor marketing not to let 2 people share a device/account.

Thanks for all your questions regarding using the Charge 5 with two accounts and Fitbit Premium @tcat007.

Fitbit Premium goes to the account and not to the tracker, if you pair it and activate it with your account your wife's account will not have Premium.

Make sure to sync your devices when you make the change because the information will reset when you pair it with the other account. Only synced information will remain on the accounts.

Also make sure to cancel the Premium trial before it expires in order to not get charged for it.

Thank you for the heads up and the assistance @Odyssey13.
