Charge 5 black screen issues

Hello,

I purchased a Fitbit Charge 5 activity tracker a little over a year ago, but unfortunately, the device suddenly stopped working. I contacted your customer service, and I was promptly sent a replacement device, for which I am grateful.

However, I have found information on Fitbit's forum indicating that many other users have experienced similar issues with the Charge 5 model. This suggests that the device may have a widespread manufacturing defect that becomes apparent after slightly more than a year of use. Some users have reported encountering problems even earlier.

Specifically, my device will not turn on and cannot be reset. Sometimes the Fitbit logo appears on the screen, while other times there is a red X. Additionally, my phone cannot connect to the device, even when it is plugged into the charger, so the clock face installation button is greyed out. There have also been previous data sync issues, as the device last synced data with the phone app about two months ago, even though the phone was connected to the device and notifications from the phone were visible on the device (iOS).

I am kindly requesting more information regarding this common issue and whether there is a known manufacturing defect with the Charge 5 model. Is this issue related to a firmware update, or is there another underlying cause? What can users do differently to avoid these problems in the future?

I am also concerned about the likelihood that the replacement device I received under warranty might also fail just after a year, once the warranty has expired.

Luckily, I live within the EU area, where the warranty period is longer. Otherwise, the device's warranty would no longer be valid. It seems unfair that, for example, in the United States, the warranty is shorter. Why can't Fitbit offer a two-year warranty everywhere, given that such devices should last longer than a year?
