Screen blank; green light on back only flickers briefly; won't charge

I locked my device to swim yesterday as I had on 2 prior occasions. When I went to unlock it, the screen was blank, no amount of double taps unlocked it and this morning I received an email notification that the battery is low.  It has been in the recharger today with no change.  Pressing the button on the recharge cable has no effect. 

Help?

There are a whole lot of reason why it wouldn't charge :

*Have you checked the charging contacts, they might be dirty .

*It might be wet, so dry it properly or the USB port or charger is faulty .. Hope you resolve your issue soon .

I've cleaned and dried charging posts --repeatedly. The green light
occasionally flickers briefly when I run a finger over the back but goes
out immediately.

Same issue. Currently trying the cleaning and drying recommendation. But not holding my breath since it didn't vibrate when connecting to charger.

Update--fitbit came back to life last night in odd ways.
Only charged up to 77%
Screen is frozen on the date and time screen
Screen is oddly bight and colors are washed out.

??? Maybe it is slowly drying???
