Screen wake sensitivity

This is my second charge 5 (the first was replaced due to the fast battery drain issue) and with this device (at least compared with the previous unit) it seems to be waking the screen far too easily.

I have the screen set to manual, so in principle, it should only turn on when I double tap (which is does) but it also turn on randomly when I am moving my arm or if it makes contact with my body. Its hard to explain the exact motion because its not even a consistent or specific action/motion but I'm definitely experiencing a lot of random screen wakes even without any double taps or accidental double taps.

To be honest, I have never liked the double-tap to wake, this is an upgrade from my previous charge 2 and the double-tap to wake never suited me on that, it was too easy to trigger it. I would love to see an option to change the sensitivity or allow for a custom tap pattern to reduce the chances of any accidental screen wake.

Is anyone else experiencing this or know of any way to adjust this?

I use quick view which seems to be flawless with the rotation of the wrist or raising the arm.

Yes, I'm aware of that option, I believe that is what the auto wake option is, but I'm actually looking for less screen on time. I hardly ever need to check the time or stats, so for me, I don't want the screen to wake unless it's very deliberate.

Is there any way to reduce the sensitivity? Even water lock doesn't help, it will still wake the screen, just now you get a message saying you need to unlock, so it doesn't reduce help for that.

Hello @shimsim

Have you tried using Sleep Mode?  It still requires the taps but might be slightly less sensitive... I had a try and it still woke when I tapped it though...

I can try that and see if it helps but it does seem like a bit of a hack and I am wondering ...

1. is there a discrepancy between different devices on how sensitive they are? (because my previous one didn't behave this way)

2. is there any way to adjust the sensitivity?

No way to ashtray eh sensitivity. And yes the different models have slightly different algorithms for quick view.

With touch their is also a little difference in that some trackers allow a little more sliding of the finger during a touch.

To get rid of the unlock message, set the pin for only fitbit pay.
