Should I upgrade my Charge 2?

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I have a charge 2 that I am happy with and was going to upgrade long ago when the 3 came out but my gf upgraded hers first and after about a year it stopped working properly and wouldn’t charge so I left it.

The features or feature most important to me is the heart rate monitor. Everything and anything around that. My charge 2 does the job (I think) accurately but if charge 5 or any others is sig improvement then I wd consider.

ive skimmed some of threads and there seems to be lots of issues with Sense (which I was also considering)

all advice welcome! 🙂

Hi @AndrewJP

Personally I'd say if the Charge 2 does everything you require from it, then stick with it (I have the "if its not broken, don't try to fix it" mentality though). Ultimately the final decision is yours to make. It's worth noting that the Charge 5 has had the altimeter removed, so if you enjoy tracking floors it won't be something you'll be able to do on the C5.

If you still fancy the C5, I'd recommend waiting until there are some decent reviews on HR accuracy (The Quantified Scientist on YouTube does some in depth reviews, I'm certain he will also do one for the C5). If it's accurate and you fancy a change, you are at least not giving up a good working device for something that doesn't perform as well then.

@AndrewJP   I completely agree with @N8teGee's advice.  My daughter wears and loves her Charge 2 and turns down upgrade gifts from me.  I am also looking forward to the heart rate reviews.  You can freeze frame the Fitbit C5 videos and see that the sensor array is different from the Sense/Versa 3.  The Fitbit Store specs also say that the heart rate is Pure Pulse, not Pure Pulse 2.0.  There's no reason for you to upgrade until there are solid reviews.

Thank you for the reply, very much appreciated. Yes the charge 2 is very good isn’t it? I’ll have a look at the videos when I get the chance! 🙂

It's hard to give you a straight answer, @AndrewJP, as the Charge 5 isn't in user hands yet.  I would wait until we have more "hands-on" reviews before deciding whether or not to upgrade.

Thank you, I will do. I’ve had a chance to check out the Quantified Scientist, very good and just what I’m looking for. I’ll look out for his review:)

I would wait and see what reviews, comments on forum,  etc it gets before considering upgrading.

I upgraded to the Charge 4 from the Charge 2. Worst decision ever. I have had no end of issues and all they say to do is reset or delete data. Wow, having to do this every couple of weeks still.
