Sleep function stars recording 2 hours later

Anyone have trouble with the sleep function not beginning to record until 2+ hours after already sleeping?  It’s registering my bedtime as at least 2 hrs after I go to bed and fall asleep?  Thanks

Hi, welcome to the Fitbit Community forums, @Tony1064

Thanks for the information provided regarding the issue you're experiencing with your Charge 5.

When your body is completely at rest and you haven’t moved for about an hour, your device should record that you’re asleepBefore considering other options, please keep in mind that there are some factors that may prevent your tracker from recording your sleep. Please make sure of the following:

  • If you slept in a position that prevented your device from getting a consistent heart-rate reading or wore it too loosely. For best results, wear your device as described in this help article.
  • If you slept for less than 1 hour for sleep patterns or less than 3 hours for sleep stages.
  • If your device’s battery is critically low.

If you haven't done so already, please follow the steps listed here below:

  1. Complete a three pulse restart procedure using the charging cable.
  2. Try adjusting the sleep sensitivity on the Fitbit app and check if you continue to have the same problem.

In addition, please wear your device on your non-dominant hand and monitor it for the next few days. In the meantime, for the nights that don't have sleep data, you can manually log your sleep by going to the Fitbit app, tapping on the "+" icon next to the sleep tile > Add Sleep Log and entering your details.

I'll be around.

Hi. I did not wear mine last night. It was in another room and it still recorded my sleep. I’ll be returning it. Charge 5.

@Stefannie Thanks for sharing your experience with this as well and for your feedback. .

I'm sorry to see that you had this problem with your sleep information and that you decided to return the device. If you decide not to return it, you can also give a try to the steps mentioned earlier in the thread, like the restart procedure.

I had weird issues like this, it would tell me I was swimming when I was asleep. Selling mine as its too past the return date.

For the entire 6 months I have owned mine, the sleep function and HR monitoring NEVER worked correctly. It tells me every day I am going to sleep 2-3 hours later, but the wake up time is correct.

Take a nap during the day, 100% accurate. I have repeatedly asked for help to only run around the troubleshooting manual.

I am buying a competitor device today, as of this writing actually.

Bye Felicia!!
