Steps sync in app, but not to app challenges I’m participating in

My steps sync fine to the app, but they’re not syncing to any challenges I’m participating in: Weekend Warrior, Workweek Hustle, etc.

Recently got an Apple Watch that I wear in addition to my Fitbit.  Could that have something to do with it?
