I got a new phone and when following instructions to pair my new device, I set up my fitbit in google. Now, none of my years of existing data are showing in the app. How do I get this back? I am super frustrated.

Did you migrate your Fitbit account to Google or just login to the app using you Gmail address and password? To keep your history you need to migrate, this will move all your existing data and friends to Google. After you migrate, you use the :"Continue with Google" option on the app and web page.
